What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy is an allied health profession, which focuses on encouraging proper motion within joints and increasing strength in order to improve function.

Do I need a referral for physical therapy?
Direct access is a term meaning the utilization of physical therapy services without a referral from an doctor. According to Virginia Law, a physical therapist can evaluate and treat a patient without a referral for 30 calendar days. 

Will my insurance cover physical therapy? 
Our office administrators will verify your insurance benefits and coverage of physical therapy prior to your first visit. We are providers for most local insurances, but also offer a Fee For Service payment plan. 

How do I schedule an appointment?
Just call (540) 213-1320 or stop in to the clinic in order to schedule your first visit.

What can I expect on my first visit?
Please arrive approximately 15 minutes early to your first scheduled appointment in order to check-in and make sure all the required paperwork is filled out. You can obtain copies of all required forms from the “Forms” page of this website, which will make your check-in more efficient. Also bring your referral from your doctor (if required), your driver's license or photo ID, and a list of all medications. At the first visit, the Physical Therapist will perform the initial evaluation, which will usually take approximately 1 hour. The initial evaluation includes obtaining a medical history, determining your chief complaints, testing strength and range of motion, determining functional limitations, performing special tests to determine pathology, and initiating a home exercise program, if appropriate.  

How long is each appointment?
After the initial evaluation, each follow-up appointment is scheduled for approximately 45-60 minutes. 

How should I dress for physical therapy?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing such as shorts and a T-shirt with supportive footwear are appropriate as you will be exercising in therapy.    

Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes. Please give 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or re-schedule your appointment, so that we can serve the most people possible.
