Bethesda Physical Therapy & Wellness employs several highly qualified physical therapists who have both the experience and the drive to provide you with the best possible treatment and advice. Take a look below to get to know our staff.

Doug Rohr, PT, Owner

Doug is a graduate of Old Dominion University (1982) and has owned 2 private practices in Staunton, Shenandoah Valley Physical Therapy 1985- 1998 and now Bethesda Physical Therapy and Wellness, Inc, 2005 until present. He practiced as a PT at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia from 1982 to 1985, working primarily with Spinal cord injury, brain injury, and amputee rehab. He then started, owned, and managed a Physical Therapy private practice (Shenandoah Valley Physical Therapy) in Staunton Virginia, 1985 - 1998 jointly with Lee Baker, PT. Doug continued to be a leader and manager for the practice until it was sold to Augusta Medical Center in 1998. 
After Doug sold his private practice to Augusta Medical Center, he worked as Supervisor of Outpatient PT services for 4 years and then became Supervisor of Education and Program Development for 4 additional years. He then started, Bethesda Physical Therapy and Wellness, Inc., in 2005, and continues to grow and nurture this private practice, well known and respected in Staunton and Augusta County. 

Doug and his wife BJ (retired RN) have been on numerous medical mission trips, traveling to Nepal in 1999 performing village health care and again in 2002 for village medical service and teaching of Nepali primary healthcare providers. Lee Baker, his previous business partner, became a full-time missionary in Nepal in 1990 and ultimately became his contact and resource for short-term mission trips to Nepal. Doug has also traveled to Mexico 2001, 2003, and 2008 for three, 1-week, short-term mission trips to provide physical therapy and staff teaching at a handicapped orphanage in Ensenada, Mexico called “Gabriel House.” Doug and BJ have traveled to Kenya, Africa for medical mission and gifting homes and food to needy widows and their children in August 2011. Doug again traveled to Kenya in August 2014 for another mission with emphasis on building homes, providing food, and providing physical therapy services to the underserved in Kiserian, Kenya. He and his wife, BJ, continue to have a heart for medical missions. BJ was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in July 2012 and is doing well with her treatments, but is unable to travel to 3rd world countries. She continues to pray for the support of those that can go and serve.

Doug is an avid water skier and scuba diver. He is frequently at earthly peace and finding rest at his condo on Smith Mountain Lake. He has competed in over 20 sprint triathlons since he turned age 30. He completed an Olympic distance triathlon at age 40. Most recently, he was able to assist in team triathlon with colleagues Jess Dobbs and Beverly Walsh in May 2014 at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.

Dustin McGann, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, Cert. DN

Dustin graduated from Stuarts Draft High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2003. He then received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006 where he received the AD Williams Award for high scholastic attainment and professional performance, unusual promise, and ability to contribute to the profession. Dustin has been working in outpatient physical therapy since 2006. He joined Bethesda Physical Therapy and Wellness, Inc. in the Spring of 2010. 

In 2007, Dustin completed the Long-term Manual Therapy course in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. He then became an American
Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 2008. He is a current member of the APTA Orthopaedic Section and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOM PT). 

In 2008, he also became a Titleist™ Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, and in 2011 became a TPI certified medical professional. He works with golfers to help improve performance and reduce pain. See the “Golf Performance” page on the website for more information.   

In 2013, Dustin completed his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at Regis University, and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. He has guest lectured in Virginia Commonwealth University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program on spinal manipulation and is currently an adjunct faculty at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences’ Physical Therapy Department. Dustin’s research focus is in orthopaedic manual therapy, and he has presented at the AAOMPT annual conference and most recently the American Physical Therapy Associations’ Combined Section Meeting in
2015. In 2014 he became an instructor for the Institute of Advanced Musculoskeletal Treatments (IAMT).

Jessica Dobbs, PT, DPT

Jessica graduated from Wilson Memorial High School where she played basketball, soccer, and threw the shot and discus for track. She went on to play collegiate basketball at Bridgewater College, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science in 2007. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2010 where she received the AD Williams Award for high scholastic attainment and professional performance, unusual promise, and ability to contribute to the profession.
Prior to attending Physical Therapy school, she worked at AMC as a personal trainer where she introduced the Sports Enhancement and Injury Prevention Program for high school girls basketball players. In 2009, she traveled with the Christian Medical and Dental Association of VCU to El Salvador to provide physical therapy and medical services to the people in the surrounding communities of San Salvador. She joined the team at Bethesda Physical Therapy and Wellness, Inc. (BPT) in the Spring of 2010. She enjoys being active in the Virginia Physical Therapy Association and serves as the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education for BPT. In 2015, she was recognized as the Emerging Leader for the state of Virginia by The American Physical Therapy Association. 

In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, Chance, and their sons, Braeden and Dawson. She also enjoys working on her family farm, competing in sprint distance triathlons and half marathons, playing basketball, and singing in her church band.

Chad Young, PT, MTC

Chad is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina but has lived most of his life in Virginia. He graduated from Orange County High School where he played football and basketball. Chad attended Bridgewater College where he played four years of football and in his junior year was selected as an Academic All-American. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997 from Bridgewater College.

Chad’s post-graduate degree was obtained at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He graduated in 2000 with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. His interest in orthopedics led him to the University of St. Augustine, where he obtained his Manual Therapy Certification in 2006.
He has worked in several therapy settings over the course of his career. Chad’s specialties include manual therapy for orthopedic conditions, knee braces to address both arthritis and ligamentous instabilities, and foot orthotics. He enjoys sharing his profession with others and has served as a mentorship coordinator for students interested in the field of Physical Therapy. 

Chad joined the staff at Bethesda Physical Therapy and Wellness, Inc. in March 2012 and is excited to provide care to patients in Staunton and the surrounding community. 

When not working, Chad loves to spend time with his beautiful wife Lara and his awesome son, Luke. His hobbies include taking his son to the park, traveling with his wife, hiking and listening to music.

Marla Poteat, PT, DPT

Marla graduated from Wilson Memorial High School where she played basketball and soccer as well as ran cross country. She went on to play collegiate basketball at Eastern Mennonite University where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in exercise science in 2012. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2015 from Southwest Baptist University (SBU) in Bolivar, MO. During her time at SBU, she participated in many free service days and free clinics providing physical therapy and care to those in need. She joined the Bethesda Physical Therapy & Wellness, Inc team in June 2015.

In her free time, Marla enjoys spending time with her husband, watching sporting events, participating in sporting events, and enjoying a variety of cuisines with family and friends.

Chris Greco, Business Manager

Chris graduated from Fort Defiance High School in 2004 where he played soccer. Following high school, Chris went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science at Bridgewater College. Chris has previously worked at Bethesda Physical Therapy from 2006-2010 before going to work at another local outpatient clinic. During his time there; he was awarded a national award throughout the corporation for "Superior Performance in Reaching, Inspiring and Teaching". This award is given to employees who demonstrate integrity, honesty, loyalty, compassion, respect and humility. In the winter of 2016, Chris returned to Bethesda Physical Therapy as a clinical assistant, before taking over the role of Business Manager.

In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his loving son, Landon. He also enjoys playing soccer, hiking, trying new foods, and wearing wild and wacky socks to work. 

Sue Nicoll, Billing and Collections

Sue Nicoll has worked in the physical therapy field for over 25 years with a heavy concentration in insurance billing and collections. Her hobbies include golf, step aerobics, reading, and spending time with friends.

Rita Shaver, Receptionist    


Rita has been a part-time receptionist at Bethesda PT since 2008. She has been married for 35 years to Kevin and has 2 grown sons, Kyle age 29 and Aaron age 26. Her oldest son is married and has 3 children. Camping, reading, and spending time with her family are things she enjoys in her spare time. 

Hailey Cowles, Clinical Assistant

Hailey graduated from Riverheads High School in 2012 where she played soccer. Following graduation, Hailey attended Mary Baldwin College for one year while playing soccer and then transferred to Old Dominion University where she received her Bachelor of Science  in Physical Education degree with a concentration in Exercise Science. After finishing a 400-hour internship requirement, Hailey was hired as a full-time Clinical Assistant. 
Katilyn Duggins, Office Assistant

Katilyn graduated from Waynesboro High School in 2008. Following high school, Katilyn went to Bluefield College where she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management.
About Katie Thompson, 

Katie graduated from Stuarts Draft High School in 2009 where she played basketball and softball. Katie completed her high school senior mentorship at Bethesda Physical Therapy. Following high school, Katie went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Shenandoah University. 
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, Devon, their daughter, Hattie, and their two dogs. Watching sporting events, spending time with friends and family, and ice cream are a few of her favorite things.
